WHICH COASTAL TOWN?
Each location along the Colombian Pacific coast is unique but all include picturesque beaches.
Below you’ll find an introductory summary highlighting each as well as our own comments to help you decide what’s right for you.
BAHÍA SOLANO
EL VALLE
BUENAVENTURA
Buenaventura is a large seaport town, approx the size of metropolitan Los Angeles, located in the department of Valle de Cauca with a population of approx 333,194 people . There are many beaches close to the port of Buenaventura and although the city itself is fairly unremarkable and can be quite dangerous, you can access some beautiful beaches close by via short local boat trips.
NUQUÍ
Further to the South you will find the township of Nuqui with approx 8,000 inhabitants, 3,000 of which live in the municipal capital, the rest are spread across 8 small fishing villages (see map) The town itself offers little but a gateway to explore the magical and secluded stretches of beaches and quaint and cultural communities found to the south which are easily accessible by a cheap daily public boat service. Nuqui hosts its own airport and is also accessible via boat from El Valle or Buenaventura. Each of the villages have a unique identity and you can find a variety of activities such as jungle hikes, hots springs, river canoe tours and other cultural experiences such as gastronomy, weaving and traditional fishing. Feel free to contact us and we would be happy to help you decide what to include in your trip.
