How to Get There

With no road access to Choco´s pristine coastline, you will be embarking on an exciting journey to arrive to our unique Pacific Coast destinations, so buckle in and enjoy the adventure!

There are a few airlines that offer flights to Nuqui and Bahia Solano with varying degrees of  reliability. We highly recommend San German as a local airline which offers various daily flights departing to both destinations and a professional and reliable service. San German also supports our local community by offering free shipment of educational supplies to local schools and removing excess trash in empty return flights to Medellin so they are our favourite option!

We invite you to book your  flights online via the San German Website. If you would like assistance with booking flights, please fill in this form and we will gladly assist you.

If you are travelling North from  Buenaventura you have the option of arriving by boat. We only recommend this option for those on a serious budget because it can be an uncomfortable and long journey for a small financial saving. There is a fast boat and slow boat, both have pros and cons:

Slow boat

This option is slightly cheaper at 140.000 COP  but takes much longer. You will be travelling on a cargo boat, which brings all of the supplies to Nuqui from Buenaventura and takes between 18 – 24 hours. You will be allocated a small sleeping cabin and meals are included. It departs Buenaventura every Tuesday afternoon and returns Saturday, as soon as the tide permits. Departure times depend on the tides so be prepared to wait around on the dock until you get the green light to go. This is not for the faint of heart, It can be rough and a strong smell of fuel and engine sounds can permeate the rooms. This option is only recommended for those on a serious budget or the young and adventurous. Speak to the Captain if you want to get off at Termales or one of the other villages before you reach Nuqui and a local collecting supplies will be able to bring you to shore for a small tip.

Fast boat

This is a relatively quick and definitely bumpy ride which usually takes approximately 4 -6 hours and costs 220.000 COP one way (Buenaventura – Nuqui). It leaves Tuesday from Buenaventura from “Muelle turistico” at 6am and returns Nuqui – Buenaventura on Thursday at 6am from “Muelle Armada” Double check when you make your reservation as these details are all subject to change based on tides and weather.
