Mother’s day in Termales

I felt very blessed that after many Mother’s days apart, my mum could join me for the local Mother’s day celebrations in the village of Termales. We walked to the pueblo around lunchtime to see the women of the community sat at a long table, while the men stood proudly over big pots of rice and stew that they had cooked in honour of their dear madres.

After the meal, Prana Pacifico was able to present a very special gift to the women of the community thanks to a generous donation from PUNTO BLANCO, one hundred and twenty yoga mats. Thanks to our friends at SAN GERMAN, we were also able to send the nine boxes free of charge in time to present them for the Mother’s day celebrations.

We will be using the mats for yoga and exercise classes offered to the women a couple of times a week and i’m sure as a handy resource to have around the house for playing with the kids or day trips to the beach.

Later in the afternoon the speakers were turned up and the village crescendoed into fiesta, dancing and dedicating songs to the women who give life to the town. As i walked home back down the beach, the sounds of Ballenato floating on the breeze, i also gave thanks to the women who have adopted me, teaching me recipes and the local way of life and to my own mum for trekking across the globe to be here with me experiencing it.
