Santiago is a young man with a big presence. Eighteen years old, tall athletic build, heart warming smile and a respectful, responsible and dedicated leader within his community, he is the kinda guy you want to know. We took a few moments to sit with Santiago at La Sirena Negra beach side restaurant to ask him few questions for this interview so you can learn a little more about this up and coming star!

What surfboard are you currently using?

Cabo corriente! It is a nice left point break, tubes of 6 meters without wind and such a beautiful location, There are so many whales out there too so you can see them from your board and hear them singing underwater.
What is your favourite pre /post surf snack?
Pre - fruit like pineapple, papaya and mango
Post - coconut water for rehydration and later a big plate of fish and rice cooked by mum
What is your favourite thing about living in Termales?
To live right besides the beach and the ocean, pure tranquility!
What is your favourite class at school?
What are your goals for the next five years?
I want to be a Professional surfer to represent Colombia, Choco and my community in Termales. I want to have my own surf shop here on the beach and I want to see my beach full of young local surfers from the termales surf school and visitors from all over the world who have come to surf with us here in this paradise.
Stay tuned for more news from Santiago and how you can support him with his dream to represent Colombia. In the meantime, check him out in this throwback to 2015 in Coleman Lowndes production about the Termales surf school which won the World Nomads award for short film of the year.
