The Early Bird Gets the Whale

The Early Bird gets the Whale

It’s that time of year again when the majestic Humpback whales make their great migration North, but not before they have made time to hang out in the Warm Pacific waters around the Prana Pacifico Property.

The season officially starts in July although the whales have already started to arrive! They usually hang around, frolicking, flapping, and belly whacking until the end of October, using their time to reproduce and give birth to their young.

It was in August last year, after spending considerable time with the whales, that I decided  to live on the coast full time. Never had I had such close and meaningful contact with nature and the respect and connection I felt for the whales ran deep. I saw the way they came close to the boat, just as curious about us as we were of them, their big knowing eye studying us wisely. I heard them sing to each other as I swam from the dock at the base of El Morro and I saw the sheer strength as they whacked their tails in synchrony on the waters surface and threw their bodies like giant torpedos in a show that left the whole boat agasp. Needless to say I am super excited to welcome them back to our waters!

We think that everyone should have access to this magical experience, so stay tuned on our Instagram account to find out how you can win a Whale Package for two including flights from Medellin!
